Just changed out the summer quilts.
by GrreatTeacher ini just washed all my summer quilts and put them away for the season.
i brought out the thicker and heavier winter quilts and put them on the beds.. i love patchwork quilts and have a couple of heirloom ones actually made out of the scraps of old family clothes.
my mom can point to a fabric and say," oh, that was a dress of mine when i was little," or, "that was my mother's apron.".

I have never been to Las Vegas.

I have family in Vegas and they like it well enough and I wouldn't hate living there. There are some nice residential areas just outside of the main downtown area. The strip is a bit much in terms of being gaudy and overwhelming with lights and glitz. With Covid, the hotels/casios were offering expensive hotel rooms/meals for drastically reduced prices so the low rent ghetto out of town visitors came there on the rampage bringing all their behavioral problems with them, while the more normal tourists had the sense to stay away. There are things to do other than gambling (rollercoasters, stage shows, water slides, sightseeing in and outside of town etc)
They are having serious water shortages this year and with "global warming" they expect it to get worse. The Colorado river is fed from snow runoff from the Rocky Mountains and powers the Hoover Dam and feeds Lake Mead which is the water reservoir Vegas uses. It is currently at 36% of it's capacity and they don't expect it will ever get completely full again because of the lack of snow in the rockies. Water restrictions are in effect.

What the heck does this mean. Pin the slave to the door
You have the slave put their earlobe against the wooden door and you pierce a hole it by hammering the sharp pointed awl through it until the awl stuck into the wood door. I imagine they'd put some sort of earring into the hole once the person stopped screaming and they cleaned up the bloody mess.
After that, they looked around for some poor little baby boy to circumcise.

GB / Wives ,wont voluntarily give up their lifestyle
by smiddy3 injust an observation viewing some of their on camera appearances , and their arrogance believing they are the only one`s used by god to reach and teach the people ,despite what gj said at the arc on the subject.. no doubt the gb men wear designer tailor made suits from the best tailors in nys ?
and their wives adequately provided for in a similar way ?
nothing from kmart or target ,walmart or whatever.. shoes are probably made from form fit cobblers to fit the individual ?

When I was in Bethel, certain Bethel Elders, clad in 3 piece suits were driven along with their wives to meetings in black town cars. They used to pull out of the Bethel garage as the rest of us trudged by in the snow as we made our way to the subway or bus station and back again late at night. Supposedly the town cars were donated by some witness with a car dealership.
The rest of the JWs were admonished in the literature and from the platform to not distract from the message by making a showy display of our means of life.
I remember seeing my housekeeper and her elder husband in the back of one of these cars. They were a black couple and I don't know about him but I know she was from very humble beginnings in the south and I think she may have felt ashamed or at least very uncomfortable about this because she sort of slunk down in her seat when she saw the group of us stoped on the sidewalk so that the luxury car they were in, pulled out of the garage.

I used to sit at the governing body table for all my meals while I was in Bethel. As I remember, most of the wives were very nice (think circuit overseer's wives) but there was an "air" about a few of them (one in particular) that let you know that you were beneath their radar. I won't mention any names but her initials were/are Marina Sydlik.
In terms of being superior/privileged, the ones who seemed the worst back then were the wife's of the Overseers in the factory or "Bethel Elders". In the basement there was a single washer and dryer for us to use because the Bethel laundry used to shrink/ruin our clothes. I used to take my nicer stuff down there and do a load once in awhile. I put my soap and clothes in the washer and walked over to the Commissary which was a few steps away, to get a snack to eat while I waited for my laundry. When I got back a few minutes later, one of the Elder's wife's had taken my sopping wet soapy clothes out of the machine and tossed them and my laundry bag, into the slop sink. She stood there with a sour look on her face as if there was no way in
HellHades, she was going to wait around for a lowly "Bethel Boy" to do his laundry. I didn't say anything because I thought there might be some rule about not leaving the machines unattended, so I left and came back later just as she was pulling her wet stuff out of the washer and putting them into the dryer. She turned the dryer on and left ( apparently it WAS ok to leave...or maybe it was ok for HER to leave).I resumed washing my stuff and waited there for the cycle to finish. When they were done, she hadn't returned so I took her still damp stuff out of the dryer and put it into her laundry basket and set it on the floor and put mine in the dryer. I wanted to see her face when she returned and discovered what I had done but unfortunately/fortuantely mine dried and I was outta' there before she returned but I was ready to go toe to toe with her.
I'd have gladly given up the machine and waited if she'd have asked. I couldn't believe that something this petty was happening at Bethel....they never mentioned this kind of stuff in the brochure ! This was one of many things that happened there (including having my room robbed) that told me something was very wrong with this organization and Jehovah wasn't watching.
To answer the original question, I think they'd more likely tweak the scriptures or come up with "new light" to justify their lifestyle, than they'd be to give up their luxuries. Right now, I'm sure they feel that their looking and having the best, reflects well on the organization and brings glory to or vindicates Jehovah's name.

As a blonde male I don't mind blonde jokes because they provide dingy run of the mill dark haired individuals (who typically have low self-esteem), with an opportunity to feel superior to someone else for once in their lives. More importantly, these jokes are typically aimed at blonde women and that's as it should be. ( kidding)
Example:
A blond woman speaking to a ventriloquist who's act was filled with blonde jokes :
Blonde: "I’ve heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think you can stereotype women that way? What does the color of a person’s hair have to do with her worth as a human being? It’s men like you that keep women like me from being respected at work and in the community and from reaching our full potential as a person. Because you and men like you continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only blondes, but women in general, and all in the name of humor!"
Ventriloquist: "I'm sorry ma'am but..."
Blonde: "You stay out of this, mister ! I’m talking to that little idiot on your knee!!

On this site we talk a lot about the Watchtower Society being a big business that is more concerned with property, money, control and their reputation, than it is in understanding the Bible no matter the cost or how it makes them look.
It always surprises me that rather than leaving well enough alone, they concern themselves with updating the interpretations of these visions that most JW's don't care or even know about. Are they concerned with accuracy or could it be that the new version will somehow give them a way to scare currents into into staying where they are and doing so will make it look as if they're "inspired men" who've still got it going on in terms of delving into the "deep" matters of the Bible?
